Class Chalet!

heys 75! know u all busy mugging now but have to settle this fast or else all the chalets booked.. cos currently the !st,2nd,3rd are all booked! and seriously all saturdays are booked during the holidays.

ok the thing is like that, we can stay there for three days two nights then the first day after 2 check in and then the third day after 10 check out i think.. so means the middle day is the main day! so i was thinking whether u all want monday as the main day? so means book sunday, monday, tuesday.. if ok can send me sms say ok! try to send asap.. like dateline on evening of bio ok?? yes thanks thanks!

for econs paper, we have to do a total of 1 case study (1h 10 min) and 2 essay questions! (oh what the hell, but its 1 h 30 min)

essay questions >> choose 1 from the 2 questions in section A AND choose 1 from the 2 questions in section B.

people hang on! let's be optimistic, its 1.5 weeks more till ends of promos. (:

tribute to our teachers

to liven our class blog!just to thank our teachers for their efforts to help us all the way till promos.

Dr Siva: thanks for helping us in econs and telling us about the emphasis on..applications. and trying to make us laugh with your so-lame-that-we-cannot-stand-it jokes.and thanks for the treat and interesting ct session.

Miss Chua: thanks for being such a nice and helpingful and friendly-though-seemingly-strict teacher.you rock chemistry!and saved ~~most~~ all of us from the evil hands of organic chem!now we can do our papers with a clear mind rather than going hey i know this is the answer but i dont know why it's like that.and your stickers(even when we didnt do that well) and candies to make us happy sure are encouraging!

Mr Ngoh: Thanks for being ever so patient when going through mcq qns. by guiding us through each and every mcq choice A-E and drawing those cute diagrams for us to understand better.and for all the encouragement when we all arent that good.thanks for the ever constant reminder to study bio so that we wont get killed by Mrs Foo and that we'll be happy too!pls 手下留情(shou3 xia4 liu2 qing2 for all those who cant read the chi words or u can go encoding and choose unicode) when you meet us at the bball finals!

Mr Ng: thanks for going through the tutorials and helping us catch up with the rest of the cohort and teaching us how to think and study independently by giving us only half the working.and thanks for bearing our noise level instead of raising your voice.

answers for bio stuff

this is the concept check 1 answers to genetic of yiruses and bacteria:

1)protein coat, sheath, base plate, tail fibres
2) a protein on the surface of the phage adsorbs specifically to a receptor protein on a host cell to begin an infection. the sheath of the tail contracts, thrusting a hollow core through the membrane of the cell.
3) the phage dna molecule is incorporated by genetic recombination in a specific site on the host cell's chromosome. one prophage gene codes for a protein that represses most of the prophage genes.

for genetics supplementary tutorial pg2:
operator gene: a segment of DNA that controls the access of RNA polymerase to the genes in the operon.
repressor protein: it is a protein that binds to the operator and blocks attachment of RNA polymerase to the promotor, hence preventing transcription of the genes.

for RNA polymerase and structural gene this is my answer but i dont know if it's right:
RNA polymerase: an enzyme that joins the 3' end of an incoming nucleotide to the 5' end of the previous nucelotide to form mRNA (think there are somemore functions can check of DNA chpters)
structural gene:any gene that codes for a protein or RNA product.

for qnb the main points should be the repressor protein binding onto the operator to prevent synthesis of LacZ(which codes for B-galactosidase) in the absence of lactose. when lactose is present: allolactose inactivates repressor, allowing the binding of RNA polymerase and hence the transcription of the mRNA that produces enzymes for the lactose pathway.
(again this is my answer so anyone wants to improve on it?)

FRISBEE

Okay, u guys better be thankful. I used my own $$ and bought two frisbees today, for what ler? u all shld noe..haha especially the team taking part in FOS!
PLease jiayou! while u are mugging for promos a few mins of spinning a disc everyday wunt kill you.. yea? and somemore frisbee is a damn slack sport when u are just practising passing, so please spend some time in breaks, before school or after school... just throwing when u all are bored, stressed or pissed with siva... lol.

As well as the rollers and other ppl too, please dun waste our "all star" team :D haha all the best! but of course promos first priority. jiayou!

Open the file Hosts with notepad and edit it by adding:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net

Add this 2 lines at the very last line.

I dunno why this works but it worked! LOL

Class chalet in Dec

Heys 75!

Do you all wnat a class chalet at the end of the year?? We haven't had any yet! haha asked aven't had any yet.. I asked my father to check the details..

The details are as follows.. haven't booked yet but we were discussing that best to have it end nov, early dec..is it ok? hmm ok i think right everybody if ok then just tag the board.. then once we have 18 people ok then we go book le.

Details:
what type? SAFRA bungalow chalet
Where? Changi there
Time? 29 nov, 30 nov, 1 dec ok? then 29 dec 2m check in and 1 dec before 10am check out
Cost? $430 for two days so less than $20 per person but this is excluding all the food expenses everything only the booking ya

ok so if everybody ok with that date..must keep that date free! and pls faster tag the board so we can faster book! cos it is super peak season ya.. meanwhile everybody jiayou for ur mugging!

Thank You

Hey guys, just wanna say a big thank you for being so cooperative and decisive in making your choice to join the various sports events in FOS.

Its seriously one of the super duper rare occasions that you guys act and respond so fast, judging on the pace u walk to one classroom to another, and how late u ppl can be for tut, IMPRESSIVE :D LOL

Please continue to be like that, this is the first time i managed to fill up a form without getting stressed and bursting a blood vessel or 2 in my brain or something.... hahaha...
Anway ..yea... all this things... i seriously have nothing extra to gain by working extra hard in this la, this is all for the benefit of everyone as a whole, so plsplsplsps be as cooperative next time :D.

To summarize everything, YOU GUYS ROCKS OKAY haha...

Haha... i noe promos are coming... so please mug damn hard okay, help each other . those who are already damn qiang out there please help those who are on the verge of retaining... probably like me :P hahaha... Yeah jia you ah... and during PE, u guys probably can play the sports u which u are taking part in FOS to train up for it... Mugging is good, but trust me it will be more efficient if u carefully incorporate some time for sports in your schedule, releases stress and increases productivity :D

Enough of nonsense i myself am lagging so damn much in my studies, haha. Once again thank u, and pls encourage ur friends from the other Apollo classes to join the FOS too okay. thanks for the support.

after maths makeup

yay! the holidays are here finally (: though i think its pretty monsterish ><

first thing first..

happy teacher's day! (:

but anyway, val sam and i were thinking about having a class dinner together or sth tomorrow (sat) or after maths makeup on monday! and i think reihorng suggested to go watch movie after makeup (monster house or sth?) and monday movies are not exactly very expensive. 7 bucks i think. hurhur. and yeah if not, we can always rot somewhere or play ball, muahaha.

then after that we can go full force for our intensive mugging routine... mug like there's no tomorrow.
